When The Going Gets Tough Poem by Justin Gildow

When The Going Gets Tough

The stars are out but the sky is dark
Things in the city are hanging in the balance
Now that the demons have arrived
Having been sent by their master

You and I know that getting home safe and sound won't be easy
With the demons everywhere

When the going gets tough
We'll have to put our faith in our legs to carry us
When the going gets tough
We'll have to maneuver, duck, and evade all the fireballs, knives, and shurikens being thrown at us
When the going gets tough
We'll have to grab whatever weapons we can find
Whether it's a pipe or a sword
When the going gets tough
You and I know that deep down
All we have have is each other
When the going gets tough
We need to have faith in each other

So we run across the rooftops
While climbing up the sides of buildings from time to time
All the while trying to remain safe and sound
All the while trying to avoid the demons

As we run along
And good and evil are battling it out tonight
The stars shine their brightest over us
Whispering to us and offering their trust
While declaring this night yours
And while declaring this night mine
