When The Great Feminine Human Spirit Rises Poem by Grant House

When The Great Feminine Human Spirit Rises

When the great feminine human spirit rises
One fine and inauspicious day
Girls and women will find themselves
Unquestionably recognized as equal
To boys and men in each and every way

Some say the great lie that needs untelling
Will finally give up, lie down, and then succumb
To a bell that won't stop ringing
A bell that will not, cannot, absolutely refuses
To be unrung

Ring that bell of freedom
Let it resonate in your head, your heart, your bones
Strike the chimes of equality
The triangles, loudly ringing from the porches
The ones that draw us closer to our homes

Be still to the omnipresent silence
At the center of each atom's nucleus conceived
That sacred love that is brought forth
Mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunties
Generously given and hopefully received

In the middle of the darkest night
Crash full steam into truth, release
Kindness bonfire flames wrought skyward
The brilliant luminescence
The radiating heart of compassion, care and peace

This fierce and rightfully proud feminism
Unapologetically changing the world for good
Restoring equilibrium to our lives
One by one, as a civilization
And right there in your neighborhood

Big changes are coming my friend
It's the climate, not the weather
When the great feminine human spirit rises
Strike the chimes, bells and triangles
Women and men will rise together
