When The Suckers Run Poem by Raymond Farrell

When The Suckers Run

In Spring
When the Suckers run
Down Otter creek
Into the Rideau river
We'd let the lads
From the village
Go back at night
Where the creek narrows
To spear a few
And by way of thanks
There'd always be a few fish
In the water trough
Come morning.
