When Thoughts Drift Back. Poem by Heben Ditz

When Thoughts Drift Back.

Upon my trusty steed, the roaring motorcycle I straddled,
Through the cityscape I thundered, as others watched, rattled.
For I craved the freedom, the unbridled thrill,
Of riding the winds, feeling life's vibrant chill.
Lara Branigan's melodies echoed in my mind,
Adding a symphony to the adventure I'd find.
Two stops for coffee, a smoke to ponder and reflect,
As the road stretched before me, memories to collect.
Mountains, lakes, wild trees swirled in my sight,
Nature's grandeur, a breathtaking delight.
I drank in the beauty, each moment a treasure,
Savouring the journey, a gift beyond measure.
Now jobless, that commute a distant dream,
But the nostalgia remains a joyous beam.
Tears of happiness, when thoughts drift back,
To those windswept roads, an unforgettable track.

When Thoughts Drift Back.
