When We Went Into The Field Poem by joseph short

When We Went Into The Field

We went into the field today,
We frolicked around into the pasture,
As we laid in the grass laughing and kissing,
We will always have those fond memories,
To cherish and to hold forever as if time would freeze,

As we kissed and held each other silent and still,
Sleeping in all through the night into the early morn,
And gently awoke to the soft crows of the roster in the barn yard,
As I slipped out of the bed and into my jeans,
You, lying there, sleep still in your beautiful blue eyes,

I kissed you and slowly tip toed down the stairs,
As I pulled on my boots the dog came walking over,
As if to say “Hey, I’ve been waiting for you”,
I let her outside, as I filled her old food and water dish,
The usual morning routine on our lovely homestead,

I slipped out the back door to do the morning chores,
As you awoke fully from your beautiful slumber,
And slipped out of your night gown into you skirt,
As you went down the stairs to start breakfast,
I see you as I look up from the barn door,

And you wave to me and we both blew a kiss,
As I finished the chores and came up to see you,
And I realized that this is better that any dream,
I know we are made for each other,
As you gently kissed me as we headed back up the stairs,

And fall blissfully into each others arms,
Not having a care in the world as we confess our love,
And show it to each other in many ways,
After we have fallen yet again to sleep,
Waking up to the rosters soft crow in the barn yard.
