When You Are Old Poem by Renee Alexandria Ho

When You Are Old

Rating: 5.0

Wrinkly and tired
You rest in your bed.
Free from your jobs,
And peace fills your head.
You tell me one thing
You tell me so true,
You want life to be happy
For me and you
You say you'll travel the world
And feel ever so free.
Then we'll look back at our photos
and giggle with glee.
I don't want you just to feel fine.
I'll fill you up with all that's divine.
Now I look at you,
Your youth is lost.
I would get it back for you,
At any cost.
The light is bright.
You reach for it.
But something holds you back a bit.
It pulls you hard,
You can't cling on.
And soon after,
Your life is gone.
All around you,
Friends and family weep
While you are in your eternal sleep.
You look forward,
It's God you seek.
You find him on the mountain peak.

This is a simple poem about old age, life and death with a philosophical touch. It's my pleasure to translated into Hindi. Posted on July 24,2020.
