When You Left Her Poem by Linda Racaniello

When You Left Her

She awakened one morning
to find you were gone
you didn't leave a message
just left before dawn

She thought this was love
not just sweaty lust
thought you were the one
she could forever trust

You used her so ruthlessly
just up and left her this way
how could you hurt her so much
and have not a thing to say

She never would have gone so far
She never would have given her all
She thought this was a forever love
She thought you were in for the long haul

Her heart is in tatters
torn apart at the seams
she's bleeding from the inside
you destroyed her dreams

For days she wouldn't sleep
Didn't work and didn't eat
Tried to take too many pills
tried to claim defeat

Something was keeping her alive
Fighting when when didn't want to fight
she didn't want to feel so strong
she wanted to give in to the night

She wanted to slash her wrists
or dangle by a rope
she wanted drown in a tub
strung out on too much dope

She can't live without you
She just wants to die
You made her world smile
Now she longer wants to try

She stopped answering the phone
was later found bleeding on the floor
She was pale and unconscious
now she won't miss you anymore
