When Your Father Has A Birthday Poem by Elena Plotkin

When Your Father Has A Birthday

When your Father has a birthday, it is a huge event!
You start off by airing out the old camping tent.
You get all the fishing gear and supplies prepared.
You pack a cooler full of drinks you've both lovingly shared.
You uproot rocks and look for fresh bait.
You load up the car to near maximum weight.
You check the oil, gauges, and kick the tires.
You think about old times around some great fires.
You create a playlist to create just the right mood.
You make sure the trunk is firmly closed and so is the hood.
You lock all the doors and windows in the place.
You set out at a nice gentle unrushed pace.
And just as you drive up eager to blurt 'Happy Birthday'
You remember the plan was to meet up at the stadium for Game Day.
