Whenever You Boast Poem by Lily Winoto

Whenever You Boast

What do you boast?
They say time is money, knowledge is power,
‘Tis a life I live, why not enjoy and be glad in it?
What about job security, people bow down before you,
Would you boast? Wouldn't you? Are they sinful?
Sin? When you depart from God as the only source,
of happiness, assurance, wisdom, knowledge and power.
The love of money is the root of all evil,
Knowledge without God's decree is vain,
Heaven and earth will pass away,
but My words will never pass away.
My power and security is in You and You alone, Lord,
As it is written:
LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
(Matthew 24: 35,2 Cor 10: 17) We ought to rely on God alone. He hath saved us from death and gave us victory. We should rejoice and be glad in it!
