Where Does Love Go? Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Where Does Love Go?

Rating: 5.0

Throw a pebble into a still pond
Little ripples growing....do you see?
If not bound by borders or gravity
might go on into eternity

Try to count the grains of sand
imagine deserts and beaches
across the masses of endless land
then you might better understand

Look up at the stars in the sky
as yourself this question: why?
or ask yourself: How?
Do you ever try?

What is this feeling in the heart?
Where does it begin, where does it start?
And why feeling in love with another
Do I feel I'm falling apart?

Where does love go
when the one we love doesn't feel the same?
Where does the love go when dreams betray in shame?
When the pebble was the best of our heart, the last to our name?

Not finding an answer anywhere
Grasping but only gripping air
I am lost and lonely and and blinded by hurt's unfair glare
and then suddenlly there he was, all things laid bare

He whispered: turn your dreams of love back into care
I found comfort in his presence there
and felt at once I was less alone
The answer to my questions...suddenly known

In God, all things have a home
