Where Has Spring Gone Poem by Sierra Booij

Where Has Spring Gone

Where has spring gone?
It has vanished, and taken me with it
I don’t know who I am now,
The prostitute that stands under the glow
of dimmed sleazy lights?
I pull at the hole in my stocking
revealing creamy flesh
Am I
the drug addict that lies in the corner,
lost in world I don’t quite understand?
The man, with the crooked brown hat
and dirty fingernails,
selling hotdogs, selling his soul…

Where, in this ugly yet magical world,
do I fit?

And why do I want to,
So desperately?

Where has spring gone?
And why does it undress me?
Because there I lay,
naked body, naked soul,
with a chain of daisies
wrapped around my wrist
listening to your voice
not wanting to be anywhere else in the world
wondering, what am I doing here?
and why can’t I leave?
