While They Count Poem by Dragon Crenshaw

While They Count

1,
2,
3,
They count up for me.
4,
5,
6,
I'm sick.
7,
8,
9,
10,
There they go again.
11,
12,
13,
They aren't seen.
14,
15,
16,
17,
They are only heard.
18,
19,
20,
Please don't let them,
Get to Fifty.
21,
22,
23,
Please help me.
24,
25,
26,
I'm so sick.
27,
28,
They aren't great.
29,
30,
31,
I'm the only one.
32,
33,
34,
They'll be seen no more.
35,
36,
37,
They didn't go to heaven.
38,
39,
This isn't fine.
40,
41,
42,
43,
Seven more they need.
44,
45,
I dream of a hive.
46,
47,
48,
49,
They are gone,
With only one.
