Who Am I Poem by Chandramohan Bhandari

Who Am I

Who am I?
A poet, a philosopher
A teacher or a preacher
An ever-enquiring seeker
Or an untiring wanderer
Perhaps all of them together
Maybe an impostor!

It has always been difficult
To define my true self
There are many versions
That dwell within
Each selling its point
Holding its own space
Luring me to decide.

With varying proportions
I think of a defining cocktail
A unique special blending
Closer to the existing life-role.

Something still seemed missing
The possibilities that did not unfold
The roads that could not be taken
They must also have a hold.
I, and each one of us
Is a blend of persona
Embracing all that is visible
And that, which is not
The roles one has taken
And those, one could not
A wavelike fusion of characters
That inhabits and guides our minds.
