Who Am I Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Who Am I

Who Am I

I look into the mirror's glass,
And wonder who is looking back.
The puzzle of my heart and soul
Still leaves a wide and lonely track.

I try to read the human mind,
But logic hides behind a door.
I dream of forests, calm and deep,
While others gather blades for war.

I crave the silence of the trees,
The quiet hum of earth and sky,
But chaos blooms in every street,
And I am left to wonder why.

Perhaps the code within the cells,
The tiny, twisted threads of light,
Are where the hidden borders lie
That pull the day away from night.

I count the threads that make the soul,
Small strings that play a different role.
A change in numbers, slight and small,
Perhaps that is the cause of all.

I drift between the trees and stone,
A different rhythm, all my own.
Wondering still, as days go by,
Why they choose noise, and I, the sky.

A difference in the count of strands,
A shift in how the spirit grows;
Maybe that is why I stand
Apart from all the world that knows.
