Who Am I To Judge? Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Who Am I To Judge?

Through my teens and into my twenties
I neglected the poets of the centuries,
So just to retain the 'status quo'
I read up on Shakespeare,
All was not lost you know!
I read his works once -
I read his works twice
And The Merchant of Venice
I even read thrice.
Although at times there was confusion
I came to a resolute conclusion,
Said with truth and mind so mellow...
Yes Shakespeare was a magnificent fellow.
Writing was difficult in ages gone by;
But who am I to judge?
Tell me, who am I?
