Who I Am Poem by Ernesto Torres

Who I Am

Tick-tock, Tick-tock goes the clock
on the mantle, behind the lock
this lock is not ordinary
it is big, black and scary.

How can a lock be scary you might ask.
it is small but it has a very big task
the lock helps keep me from you
chopping you up and making you stew.

I chuckle at the thought
that these bar between us is a war being fought
they tried to help me they really did,
but instead i ate them in bits instead

And that's the story of how i got here
i am no animal you see far or near.
i am no animal at all you see
i am as human as can be

I just told a joke, fluke or folly
i am really nice and jolly
so why don't you let me out
and don't have a doubt

Of how jolly we can be
we can be great friends, you will see
