Who's War? Poem by Keila Lozada

Who's War?

As the sun slowly crawls upwards from the distant horizon
A rustle in the brambles and so far off shatters the echoing
Silence
My mind panics, A shot blasts
My heart pounds
Piercing through to my ears
Yet it's not my heart I hear
This sound that continues to surge through my body
Pain sears my flesh
Then no pain
Dark oblivion
