Who You See Poem by stephanie simmons

Who You See

Who is the person you see when you look at me?
Is the person you see really me?
Or The person I just want you to see?
Do you see the real me?
Will you ever see the real me?
You see what I want you to see, and thats the person I want to be,
but that's not the real me.
Do you see the sinner in me that wants to be bad?
Do you see the saint in me that's wants to be good?
Do you see the heart in me that wants to love and be loved?
Do you see this heart of mine that has been broken?
Do you see the fire in me that has lost it's spark?
Do you see the anger in me that wants only revenge?
Forget what you see or don't see.
Do you even know me?
Can you know me?
Do you even want to know me?
Do you know the mother in me that would die for my children?
Do you know the child in me that wants a mother's love?
Do you know the student in me that wants to learn to love again?
Do you know the butterfly in me that wants to be free?
Do you know the lover in me that enjoys being by your side at night?
Do you know the torn, bruised, broken, beaten Person that hates everything in life?
Who you think you know and see is not at all me.
It is what I let you see and want you to see and that's all you see.
I am gone, all that is left is a shadow of me and what I use to be.
And that's all you ever see.
You will never see the real me..
