Why? Poem by Marius Silverstone

Why?

Rating: 5.0

I opened my eyes
and saw
fear
blood
war
combat aircraft
a person
a cemetery
a pregnant woman
a huge tree in bloom
a crashed car
a smiling old man
anger
jealousy
ripe pears
faces of parents on their son's wedding
an electric chair
I sighed,
and the angel, who, for all those past years
walked two steps behind me,
said quietly:
I would tell you why, but you can not understand it now...

An innocent and spontaneous question but the answer could be very bitter and painful.
