Why? : A Silent Question Poem by Ritika Deborah George

Why? : A Silent Question

Few days old in an incomplete form
Her dreams in the blood whirled
Before she could see the world
The light in her was dulled
People she relied didn't gave her a chance to cry
Do you know why?

She breathed first, smiled first as came out alive
But who gave her life didn't got a sight
Soon she was outside on a rugged roadside
Without mother it was her first darkest night
She just cried as people passed by
Do you know why?

She is a child with blue eyes
Unaware of the world's lowly heights
Few evil eyes caught her tight
Brutally teared her apart
Hardly breathing, bleeding, groaning she couldn't sigh
Do you know why?

Holding the broken pieces of dreams in anguish
Wiping off her marked swollen face
The broken red bangles told the phase she faced
She saw her man's love in the hands he raised
Everyone knew except her, why?
Do you know why?
