Why Again? Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Why Again?

Why again?

Possibly unaware of my eyes
Seeing him pour money off the cup
Walked away and went on to the light
Once again the "Help Homeless! " to start

I drove; not slow; not so fast
Drove while observing till I passed
I did so as I had
Recorded the Sun rise with C. N…

This is how I am and
I assume are my kind
(Artist mind)
We are we; we are you; we are all
We are eyes and observe
And are thoughts
For us, you, we as one.

And details are killers
I saw him and his change
The Loonies, Quarters and the Dimes
I became IBM: "This and that…and plus…"

But somewhere
In my mind felt the guilt
(Watching him)
Had also earlier
Seen three children, one woman,
Too early in morning; around five
Sitting down half sleep
Under light were leaning against wall
I said hi as do dogs wagging tail;
With my hand; that is all…
Did not ask: "Can I help? "

Feel guilty and ashamed; who were they?
Some homeless and in need with respect?
Or thrown out of house and harassed?

Why did I…?
