Why Does The Sun Shine So Brightly? Poem by Victoria Gawler

Why Does The Sun Shine So Brightly?

Why does the sun shine so brightly
On a day so full of woe?
How can birds sing sweet and high
When all my thoughts are so low?
I want the skies to be black and blue,
Like the hurt in my hopeless heart
I want thunder to rumble and rage
A downpour tumble and smart.
Let the lightning crackle, the wind howl
Clouds burst in torrents of rain
Let it fall in buckets straight from the sky
To wash away all my pain.
