Why I Loved You Poem by Shanto Armonde

Why I Loved You

Your long brown curls of hair,
Danced gently, free of care.
And your big and beautiful blue eyes...
Possessed the power to hypnotize!

Your lips so luscious, I longed to kiss!
A kiss that would fill me with eternal bliss.
And yet you threw only a sweet word my way.
I'll never know the message you tried to convey.

Your beauty grew with every hour,
Though your apathy turned me sour.
Then you sent me a quiet smile...
I sat transfixed - lost for a while.

Then came that last of evenings,
That tore away my piteous heartstrings.
I knew I'd be left with a battered heart,
Although I knew not why we had to part.

So lovely you were in your heavenly gown,
Moving like a careless queen with crown.
You turned and left into that future unknown.
And I was swept away further from your throne.

I kept you alive in my dreams, to cherish everyday,
And those memories sets my mind in disarray.
I regret not falling in love with you,
But why I lost you - I never knew.
And I see you now, here, there and everywhere
I am what remains - a casualty of this sad-ended affair.
