Why Should We Dwell On What Has Been Poem by Francis Duggan

Why Should We Dwell On What Has Been

It does seem that stresses and worries of our nervous system taking toll
Yet why do we worry about things that do seem beyond our control
The past it is well beyond changing and we cannot ever change the past
But financial problems caused by errors of judgement are things with us for some time that does seem to last,
We cannot change what has happened though the regrets with us do remain
For decades in stress and in worry though all of this does seem in vain
Since we cannot change what has happened though from our mistakes we ought to learn
Though one mistake followed by another is made by those who lack the power to discern,
Still not everyone can make a billion for one to win many must lose
Though if you so wish for all of the wrong reasons you too can make the headline news
And we do spend precious time regretting the every mistake we have made
But for the sad sacks of the World we never do see a parade
Yet why should one dwell on what has been and enjoy your life whilst you may
And learn from your mistakes as you can do and leave the past in yesterday.
