Why The Uneasiness? Poem by Maymay Marie

Why The Uneasiness?

One night as the lights were off,
The thought to close the eyes,
Were interrupted with ghosts and ugly images,
Thoughts were unsettled, and hands were cold.

The thoughts to close the eyes,
Were paused, to give way to the sounds,
Brought by the lens that reminded,
No one awake, but I was the only one.

The sounds were just a background,
While pillows surrounded the hands and feet,
Papers were done a bit, the whole day was consumed,
Hours spent staring the lens with sands and pies.

Turned from left to right, right to left,
Nobody awake, I was the only one,
I talked to God, recalling His Words,
To give me comfort; to ease my unclosed eyes.

Why the uneasiness?
The thought to close the eyes,
Was undone, something disturbed,
But God, His Word, reminded to wear.

At last, the lens still sounded and spread,
Eyelids came to close, the senses paused,
Made way to the thoughts to close the eyes,
Word of God was hidden in the core of mind and heart.
