Wilderness In Snowfields Poem by Mohammad Younus

Wilderness In Snowfields

There is an unfamiliar longing—
to find well-worn traces
in this wilderness of snowfields.
I hoped to meet a traveler,
one who had walked before me,
leaving knee-deep steps in the frost.

Yet all traces lie buried,
hidden beneath fresh layers of snow.
An ache stirs within me—discomfort,
as if I were a wanderer
strayed far from the path to home.

There is little I can do now;
frostbite gnaws at my fingers,
and a dark thought clenches my mind:
What if I never escape
this boundless wilderness of white?

But then—a whisper rises within:
"Bear with this trial a moment more;
you will find the way out soon.
Be certain: when this test concludes,
you'll see, to your amazement,
that you were never truly lost.

Your fears made you believe
you were far from the Greenfields,
those eternal pastures of your soul.
It was but your illusion.
You are not distant from home—
you have always been there,
though blinded by delusions
that turned Greenfields to Snowland."
