Will You Ever Read? Poem by Kevin Carney

Will You Ever Read?

I’m afraid to say the words…
I’m afraid to these write the words…
I know you’ll never hear or read.
I really hope you would care.
Before I come crashing down…
It’s a time I need now…
To be honest with me…
Before you go away.
I feel it’s just a matter of time…
If you want to I can save you…
Really though I wonder if you,
want to be saved, or is it just in my mind…
I’m just not sure you know how much I care.
I want to take your hand…
Walk you out of your darkness.
I’d take that chance…
If you’d only take that step.
Look at the time we’ve spent…
Where have I always been?
Have I not been there for you,
during the most dangerous times?
Did I walk the tightrope of what,
was right or wrong?
Never doubting or fearing the consequence of myself…
I had to do this; never could I walk away…
I did it all, the days of thinking of you constantly…
All in the name of you…
Maybe I should put the blame on myself…
Did I smother you in the name of misguided love?
Was I too weak to believe?
Are the lies,
that I have told finally catching up with me?
I didn’t care, it was for you…
Just to hold on to you…

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Terence George Craddock 19 September 2010

I did it all, the days of thinking of you constantly… All in the name of you… The allure of the beloved she, so compellingly told, the love for one we can never hold.
