Will You Love Me Poem by tawanda omphile plaatjie

Will You Love Me

They say promises are made to be broken
And hearts meant to be broken
Oh why are they so mistaken?
All that time wasted
When hearts could be mended.

This is not supposed to rhyme
It would only be a waste of precious time
This is the cry of a heart that yearns
So deeply still after these many years

The desire to hold your hand once again
Without having to bargain
The need to fill a deep hole
And once more feel whole

Emotions run deep
Emotions run wild
All this running, but no finish line
Tell me, will you ever be mine

Traffic lights go on
Traffic lights go off
In the next car I see a face
A stranger, in his eyes I gaze
And get trapped in a daze

In these eyes I get lost
But at what cost?
My soul?
My heart?
Or all that I am?

Did you in turn get lost in my eyes?
Were they temperate enough to melt the ice?
Does it still sit in the place of your heart?
Right in the crown of your gut?

Tell me, will you ever love me?
Or should I just wait and see?
While this volcano of emotions boils under
Threatening to do me under?

Tell me, will you ever wonder?
Because if you do ever get a minute to ponder…
YES I W ILL LOVE YOU, UNTIL I CAN NO LONGER BREATH AGAIN!
