Your Friendship Wall Poem by tawanda omphile plaatjie

Your Friendship Wall

what makes a friendship?
when do we know we have crossed the fine line between just hanging out and being on each other's friendship walls?
is there a trial period?

did you still need to figure me out before my picture could grace your wall?
did i make the cut?
yours were the last words when i closed my eyes, every night
the first when i opened my eyes, at the break of daylight
does any of that count?

do the pet names add to the critea?
i had one for you, and was bugged by both names you called me, but you used them anyway, ran your mouth like a diarrhoea
does it matter that some of the best life tips i use today i got from you?
does it matter that i knew you for four years but for only one of those years did i really know you?
and only truly understood and cared for you for most but not all of that year, all through to the end?

does it mean anything that because of you i smiled again?
does it matter that when they closed your coffin all i kept thinking was 'was our time together enough to make the cut'?
is my headshot on your friendship wall today?
will throwing darts with you one last time seal the deal?
do any of these afford me the right to miss you?
because i sure do miss you today
