Wind Blown Pages Poem by Lisa Nickle

Wind Blown Pages

That summer,
it was our solace and salvation,
giving us adventures to dare together
and quiet moments in sunshine.
It made me fall harder.

Then fall came
I had to go my way
you yours
and we feared words
would not last the snow.

Winter blew in
the nights and days grew cold
and we both felt absence
like a fierce weight as moments dragged
yet it keeps us going

Spring
a time of renewal and growth.
We were warmer,
still apart
but it helped us wile the hours.

They brought us back to summer
these written words.
Stories bound for always,
reading them, aloud and long
saved us.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am teaching in China for a year. A year away from the love of my life. Skype is helpful, but sometimes there are not enough words to satisfy us, so he reads to me. And in those moments I have happiness.
