Wings Of Song Poem by Rae Seagull

Wings Of Song

Rating: 5.0

It's not the same lake
As the one at the edge of which
We stood together
There are no birds flying home to roost
No bats tossing around in the air
There is the same orange glow
As the one we saw together
Reminiscent of lava from a volcano
Even though it looks fiery
The scene is quiet and peaceful
Much like my love for you
Hot and fiery inside
With a calm exterior for the world
But you can read me like a book
Your eyes can penetrate any mantle
I may have over my facade
Every look, every expression of mine
Speaks volumes to you
If I quiver a muscle,
You know how I'm feeling
I can read you too
You're my favourite book
But this is an epic
This love story of ours
There is no finite end
Our love will live forever
And be celebrated
As an example for others to follow
I hope there will be others as lucky as me
To know a love so deep and profound
I feel emboldened to make a statement
Those who will understand
Are blessed too
Those who don't
Will have to be reborn
To experience such love for themselves
