As I Walk Towards The Mirage Poem by Rae Seagull

As I Walk Towards The Mirage

Rating: 5.0

As I walk towards the mirage
I stumble upon an oasis
Just a small patch of green
In the desert of my life
Enough to fulfill the heart's desires
Some love and cherishment
But then I must leave
With an overwhelming sense of loss
But how can I lose someone I never had?
So why this immense feeling of grief?
Tearing myself away from you
Feels like self-mutilation
And it's oh so painful
To detach a part of me from my whole
Because that is what you are to me
The other half of my soul
