Winston Poem by Karl Newton

Winston

Rating: 2.5

You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs—Victory in spite of all terror—Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival

That's what Winston said
A message as true today
As the day it was spoke
To shield
This fine and mighty Island
From the threat of
Being broke

We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender

Words spoke of a world
Laden with war
But somehow still poignant
Now than ever before
The war is different
The spirit of our nation
The same
Try and try
Time and again
This nation is not for breaking
Not now, not then
