Winter

Contractive force that drains color and life
Winter sun setting over monochrome landscape
Like an angel flying too close to the ground
Creating a world of subtle amber glow
Softened by chilled gray mist and fog
Ice sickles hang from the edge of my heart
Barely alive as love departs
In cold stillness of a long winter night
Grief has worn my heart into stone
As quiet as a cat on cotton
Winter has gripped my heart
Alone I stare into the frost's white face
For those I loved I hurt
Ice cold touch of unforgiveness
Winter
