Winter's Trap Poem by JoAnn McGrath

Winter's Trap

Winter's Trap

It appears that spring has arrived.

I hear it...

The cardinal sings his love song
to beg his loved one to come along.

The robin protests
if you come to close to her nest.

The children's laughter rings through the air
as they enjoy spring without a care

I see it...

The newness of life in the green hues.
All the different shades for us to view.

The daffodil shows it's face
with it's brightly colored golden grace.

And I know spring is here when I see
the blue heron rising from the reed

...But do I feel it?

The world still stuck in time for me.
Back to the December freeze.

My heart spending time in season's past.
Caught in bitter cold that lasts.

Spring is suppose to melt the wrap
But my heart is caught in Winter's Trap
