Winter Woods Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Winter Woods

The northern wind begins to blow,
And buries all the fields in snow.
The naked trees stand cold and bare,
Like frozen statues in the air.

A heavy anchor in the frost,
Reminds the heart of what is lost.
The silent woods have secrets deep,
Where broken vows and shadows sleep.

No birds are singing in the grey,
The light of sun has slipped away.
An older man looks through the pane,
And counts the loss, but not the gain.
