Dogs do not look at mirrors
But they recognize their own
They love dearly their friends and
Hate fiercely their foes
So does the snake, the spider,
The virus and the rose
They know whom to shun and
Who to hold close
This is the divine wisdom
The programmed nature of all
But man the confused soul
While judging his own kind
Is as sure as the one
Stumbling out of the tavern
Finding his way home
With all the street lights gone…
