Wish I Had Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Wish I Had

Wish I had

Our mother said of my brother:
"His head was on my lap…"

Before I followed him
In schools and lessons
He had been only one
Of parents' children
To have loved schooling
And reading, and writing…

Now, dead He, six decades;
Are gone both our parents.

But his words have remained,
To fill mind, spread:
"Wish I had never learned! "

Each of our siblings
Before and after him
Until it reaches me
Have ended in graves.

My age has reached time when
Died Parents, departed.

He said so when eighteen
Too learned must have been.

Since with lag, very late
Want to say what he said:
"Wish I had never learned! "

Indigenous of Iran
(Smashed and scattered,
Feel all the Indigenous
Canada's. USA's…)

Have learned that awareness
Is painful, disaster,
Therefore, I repeat the:
"Wish had not ever learned! "
