Wished That You Knew Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Wished That You Knew

The Space Shuttle was supposed to launch tonight
I stayed awake till the wee hours to see
The air was still this summer eve
The sky was as clear as can be
They stars were all around the black sky
except those hidden by a near tree
I waited and waited but the launch wasn't to be
cancelled for weather or something unknown to me
But I thought about people I know
People I've loved or who meant much to me
I thought about you and dared wish what could be
Then my heart sunk low fearing what's unknown
fearing the very thing I can't see
who will love me?
what is my destiny?
I looked at the stars
Felt so alone in the dark
But thought of you longingly
Wished on a star
Wished that you knew
You're someone to me
