Wishes - Poem by Stefan nnn

passing here or passing there
stopping silent, stand and stare
if life's riddle we could see
could we taste eternity?
but this world so semiotic
leaves me both bereft and melancholic
all I have are hollow wishes
so plodding on I do the dishes
