Wishing Wells Don'T Work Very Well Poem by Andy Pandy

Wishing Wells Don'T Work Very Well

I picked up a coin that I found on the ground.
Threw it down to the bottom of a well.
And as it hit the ground,
It made the loneliest sound.

Another prayer that goes unanswered.

And as I walked away
With my eyes on my feet,
Down dark quiet roads
And the loneliest streets,
I fell to the ground
And I screamed out loud,
'Oh, God, where are you now? '

I still haven't found You.

Last night in a dream,
I saw You smiling at me,
But I could hardly bear it.
And this morning I woke
With a song in my throat,
But I could hardly sing it.
