With Closed Eyes, Poem by Justin Zahn

With Closed Eyes,

With closed eyes,
how can one expect to see?
So why do you
close your eyes at what frightens thee?

If the darkness is what you fear,
then simply turn on the light.
If confinement is what your dread,
then break through the walls.

Shouldn't one look into Fear's eyes,
and stand firm with courage,
knowing well that the fight
is worth the risk.

Why remain in the corner
and never grow?
When you can fight the demon
and fear no more?

Open your eyes!
And shout at the beast,
'I am your servant no more,
I am who I choose to be! '
