With Each Cell Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

With Each Cell

With each cell

Squat, she sat there
Between her two fingers, cigarette
Scene of clouds in the air
An angel, Aphrodite, actress, miracle.

I cried in my heart and damned car
Was moving, no parking
My share of this play, small scene
Simple suck and blow.

Now artist, I draw with pencil most of curves
On forehead, around nose, her cheeks and
Most of all her dimples
They went in like balloon used as seat.

Had no teeth.

Smoke came
Fireworks: “I’m free.”
Celebrating her death
No more was, tobacco.

And woman, graffiti on the wall
A painting, Darwinist, communist
Slogan of changes…
The artist anonymous, on the run

Woman’s hair made the curls
They were waves on oceans
Deep, hidden the secrets
Stories no one heard.

Inside she must have been,
Stingrays, Sharks, and Whales.

She enjoyed the smoke with each cell.
