With Forever Poem by Johnathan Stokes

With Forever

We sat there together
talking as if forever
was something to be slain;
a beast no other couple
had yet conquered
and we, two heroes
shielded by each others
arms, could have no harm
done to us by it's piercing
eyes. The iris of eternity.
We said forever was nothing
and our love was everything
and surely one conquers
the other… surely…
But sure enough
within the context of infinity
our love was brief
and forever always wins its battles.
We stood no chance
and now forever is with me,
as it seems it'll take forever
to finally get over you.
