With Little Interests In Common Poem by Francis Duggan

With Little Interests In Common

With little interests in common then it does seem to me
That you and i on few things could hope for to agree
You say the poor have only themselves to blame for their own poverty
And our politics are different and we see things differently.

We say hello in passing that is all we do of late
The one to you who is different can never be your mate
We find that to each other we've got little for to say
Apart from the usual few words hello or else good day.

You boast of your successes and the wealthy people you know
And as for me for my existence i do not have much to show
But many must grow poorer for every new millionaire
And you are one who believe that all in life is fair.

We do not have much in common we are different you and I
And with little for to talk about with us tis hello and goodbye
With wealthy and successful people you go out to wine and dine
But how you live it is your life like my life it is mine.
