With Some People Pride - Poem by Francis Duggan
With some people pride is an egotistical thing
The praises of their children the proud parents do sing
Whilst the patriots proudly waving their National flag
Of their love of Country do openly brag
And some with massive egos too proud to receive
Not good for their image or so they believe
A gift such as money or a bottle of expensive wine
The offer of such they politely decline
Pride and the ego related 'twould seem
As is their close kindred known as self esteem
Imperfection is common in us human kind
The near perfect person would be hard to find
Pride and ego are not as different as can be
They are very similar would you not agree?
