With such a soft smile,
Followed by a sweet song,
For those He loved above all others,
And who loved Him above all others.
Such a great love, and His tall stature,
Travelling on the sun's back,
In cloaks of darkness at night,
On the bright moon and through galaxies.
The field, covered with the living,
Upon them the light falling.
I heard a faint voice in the shadows.
It was the surrender of the routed shades—
Bleeding, dragging along the road,
Gasping, broken, pale, more dead than alive.
And Light filled the whole space.
The voice from heaven said:
"Drink! Drink! The wine of light! "
Light, moved, placing kisses on the faithful,
A flood of light cascading from heaven.
And it said:
"Here is the healing light for hearts,
Wounded by illusions' strikes."
All of a sudden, when the light was bending down,
And moving to enlighten the darkened hearts,
A familiar voice was heard, as the Lord spoke:
"On Alast: Am I not your Lord? "
And I implored:
"All the same, give me a drink of Alast."
