Without far I walk
Walk under the poison trees
The poison drippings of the poison-boughs
Where old ancient owls
Used to assemble
But now
At day and night the boughs are
Empty of the birds
And
In the gross silence wither and age
After the leaves fall
They bend to earth to fall, in poison.
On the poison festering soils
Where more poison and more layer on layer, lie
Lie buried.
