Woe To You Poem by philip mtange

Woe To You

Woe to you
Who ridicule the beggar
And force him to sell his pitiful belongings
The source of his miserable life
In order to add more gold to your coffers
For the wrath of the Almighty shall descend on you.

Woe to you
Who oppress the poor
Whilst kneeling before the altar of God
The all merciful, the all powerful
And ask for forgiveness
For you shall be thrown into the depths of the abyss.

Woe to you
Who strike the needy
When they ask for mercy
And tragically refuse to forgive
When mercies are sought
For the Kingdom of god will be naught but a dream.

Woe to you
You followers of Lucifer
Worshippers of the idols of greed
Who watch the masses
Suffer the pangs of hunger
Whilst living a life of luxury and in difference
Who straddle the earth and pilfer from the masses
And steal from the widow and the miserable child
For your wealth shall be destroyed and your altars burnt.

Woe to you
Who destroy those humiliated in heart and broken in body
Who stretch their hands like vipers heads
And take what they have not earned
For the sword of Gabriel will bar you from the gates of heaven.

Woe to you
Who twist and turn the wheels of justice
And deny it
Whilst vehemently preaching and defending its existence
And cause my countrymen to falter and stumble in search of it
For the son of man erode your mind.

Woe to you
Who stand aloof
As the scenes of suffering and gnawing of poverty
Are paraded before your eyes
Who watch as the miserable faces of the beggars bespeak their plight
For the hand of God will strike you.
