Won`t You Come? Poem by SOHEL MAHAMUD

Won`t You Come?

My darling, don't tell me to wave the
Flag of love
In the coastal wind!
How much more do you want?
How much more do you think?
When you see the greedy vultures fly
Oh you see their greed high and high
Don't need to talk about shad
Still they want fresh Bengal blood,
Don't you see their eyes?
Don't you see their hug?
Under the billion martyrs flag.

You said you would be here
With democracy in our land
No lack of food or clothing
No lack of house will be seen
We will work hand in hand.
You said, you would be here
Next to the free speech
No discrimination will be seen
Between the poor and rich.

You said more about golden bird
If only a single shining word
A new birth of freedom
Through the shedding tons of blood,
But oh you see here
Hopes only in our prayer
I wish you would be there
Not in the dream not in the beautiful nightmare,
You said nothing is meaning less
Nothing will go wrong in the sand
But oh you see the blood still dropping
From the heart of holy land,

How many days you need to come?
How long will I cry?
When you see they are engulfing
Ours freedom fry.
Yet you won't come
With the golden bird
How long will I wait?
in my hopeless empty yard! !
